Questions are part of the journey.
FAQs
Do you take insurance?
No. I’ve chosen not to accept insurance so I can offer a space that protects your privacy and centers your needs — not a diagnosis, treatment, or session limits. I also then do not have to share information with your insurance company.
By not billing through insurance, we are free to work at your pace, focus on what matters to you — without needing to “fit” into a medical model. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to support reimbursement.
Are you currently taking new clients?
Yes.
Are sessions in person or virtual?
I offer both. In person sessions currently have limited availability in Beachwood.
What does “fertility” mean exactly?
I work with individuals and couples (including same sex) at all stages of the fertility journey — including those exploring options, navigating treatment, processing loss, or deciding what comes next.
I also support people considering donor conception, fertility preservation, solo parenting, or considering living child-free.
I also support those who are deciding what to do with tissue that has been frozen, when family building goals have changed or been met, and those with fertility impacted related medical condition(s).
Can I purchase a support package or pay for someone else to get counseling - as a gift?
Yes. Please contact me, and I am happy to arrange a gift purchase. I can include a gift certificate that expires 2 years after purchase date.
Do you only see clients who are on a fertility journey?
No. This practice was created for those seeking a fertility informed therapist, but all clients are welcome.
What can I expect in a session?
Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and personalized to your needs. You are welcome to bring emotions, questions, grief, uncertainty, or simply the desire to reflect. We will move at your pace, together.
I am not a substitute for fertility medical related questions, but an adjacent level of support to the medical professionals. I will support you through developing questions, seeking answers to them, and assist in processing the information and options they share with you.
Why is the practice called River Fertility?
Thanks for asking! To start, it has multiple meanings —water is a critical source of life. Rivers are constantly moving, sometimes slowly or quickly, sometimes the water is smooth or has big rapids. Much like life —and the fertility journey—we do not always know where a River will take us or where it will end. Some of that is our choice, and some is based on circumstances out of our control. The River ebbs and flows, forks and bends, is shallow and deep — all symbolic of the aspects of a typical fertility journey.
Additionally, Shannon was named after the River Shannon in Ireland. Shannon is also an Aquarius whose symbol is the water bearer. Shannon has always found peace and serenity in water. She was raised and lives in the Great Lakes region, and enjoys spending as much time by, in and on the water.
